What is an ethnobotanist? Botany is the study of plants, and ethnobotany is the study of how people interact with the plants in their world. I am an archaeologist, and ethnobotany is one of my specialty fields. When yarn in the colorway called Botanist showed up, I couldn’t say no!

Ethnobotanist is a collaboration with Bad Sheep Yarns, using four skeins of sport weight in the main color and one of Echo, the darker contrast; the wrap is 76” by 20”. Knitted on #6, it is 22 stitches and 33 rows to four inches. In addition to the usual tools of scissors, tapestry needle, a couple of stitch markers, and row counter, you will need a 12-sided die to determine your own random sequences. It is a long, cozy, reversible wrap, simply knit in one piece from the bottom up. Roughly rectangular, I call the design a minimalist geometric. Written, not charted, it is suitable for an advanced beginner - or a courageous beginner! Not at all fancy, Ethnobotanist will nicely show off a beautiful yarn.
