The inspiration for this shawl comes from a place in France that I visited last summer. Etretat is in Normandy and is famous for the incredible beauty of its coastline and cliffs. The white rocks stand out against the blue of the ocean, while the intricate design of the stones plays with the foam of the sea.
This landscape made me think of a shawl with an overall texture, and stripes of mosaic and corrugated ribs that remember the texture of the cliffs and the waves.
The triangular shawl is knitted flat from side to side. It starts from a tip and grows adding 1 stitch at the beginning of every RS row. The easy cable stitch can be worked without cable needle and you will find a link in the pattern to great video. The colorwork is done with the slip stitch technique (mosaic knitting) which is carefully explained (charted and written) and that allows you to work with only one strand at a time.
