Euphoric Amphorae, Opera Gloves & Cowl
Nothing says siren better than a pair of Opera gloves. They are the epitome of timeless elegance. Every girl should have at least one ( or 3!) pair in her wardrobe.
Equally lovely are the elbow, mid-length and shorter wrist length versions. All lengths feature the Amphora Lace stitch, while the Opera and Elbow length gloves feature diminishing cables set between the lace repeats.
The matching cowl features the Amphora Lace with a ribbed and ruffled border. The buttoned closure allows for flexible wearing, and minimizes hair trauma!
Garments illustrated were made with alpaca for a luxurious softness and warmth. The pattern is both written and fully charted. Patterns for both the gloves and the cowl are included in this pattern.
Gloves are made in the round while the cowl is knit flat.
Brown Opera Gloves and buttoned Cowl Set made with Artesano Alpaca 4 ply, shade SNF33 Cocoa, 3 balls (150g, 555m total) exactly.
Opera Gloves shown are 16.75 inches long. Directions are included for making the gloves longer if desired but more wool will be required for any upwards adjustment to the pattern as written.
Opera Gloves only - 2 balls (100g or 370m).
Cowl only - 2 balls (100g or 370m) and 6 buttons.
Elbow Length Gloves were made with Classic Elite Yarns Fresco, in a lovely natural cream. The blend of wool, baby alpaca and angora is just delightful.
100 grams (2, 50 gram hanks) will make the pair as shown with a bit left over.
Mid-length Blue pair shown made with Mystic Alpaca 4 ply, 1 ball (50g or 180m total).
Size is adjustable by way of needle size and gauge.
Gloves require 2.25mm (size s/m) or 2.5mm (size m/l) needles.
Cowl uses a series of needles: 3.25 for the main piece and 3.25, 4.0, and 5.0 mm needles for the ruffle which should be done relatively loosely or with a 6.0 mm needle.
Hope you enjoy this pattern!
