I was inspired by the colors of fall foliage in the woods of northern Arkansas and the idealistic setting of Eureka Springs on crisp, fall mornings. The woods and the mountains gave inspiration for the color palette.

I’ve always loved the look of 2-Color Brioche stitch, but it as always seemed intimidating and overwhelming. This pattern is my answer to those concerns. You can achieve the look and feel of 2-color brioche without the complexity.

This warm and squishy shawl is created using the effortless Two-Color Fisherman’s Rib and strategically spaced increases. The color shifting shown, alternates between the dominate and minor colors, giving each a moment to shine.

I’ve given the formula for the color shifts, but this can be completely up to you to play with scale and color combinations to customize your Eureka Shawl!

I’ve created this pattern with a worsted acrylic yarn to provide a durable, washable and squishy knit shawl. You can use my suggestions or use any worsted yarn in your stash. This can be a great stash busting pattern.

Going down from the recommended worsted needle size of a US8 gives the stitch a bit of density and structure to make the ridges really stand out. You can, of course, play with gauge and create something to your preference.

I would love to see your creations and versions of my Eureka Shawl.
