Este chal debe su nombre a Laia, la creadora de Soc una troca, cuya vida siempre ha gravitado alrededor de la música.
Su abuelo le enseñó a leer partituras cuando era muy pequeña, aprendió a escribir música casi antes que letra, toca varios instrumentos, canta, ha enseñado, dirigido, etc., pero su pasión siempre ha sido la armonía y la historia de la música. Aunque ahora su principal ocupación son las lanas, sigue teniendo una doble vida: lanas y colores de día, y ¡editora de partituras de noche! Así que para recordar esta parte tan importante de su vida decidió nombrar a este chal EUTERPE, que es la musa de la música (¡y además se suele representar con una corona de flores!).
Me hace muy feliz que Laia decidiera poner este nombre a la prenda que diseñé con sus maravillosos hilos, porque encontré con ella una enorme conexión. Estudié música hasta que empecé la universidad. Toco la flauta travesera y el piano y durante toda mi infancia y adolescencia fui miembro de la banda municipal de mi pueblo natal, Ocaña (en la provincia de Toledo). La música ha formado parte de mi vida de manera muy activa y me ha hecho ser la persona que soy.
Euterpe es un chal muy sencillo, apto para casi principiantes, que se teje muy rápido. Disfruta tejiéndolo mientras escuchas una de las gnossiennes de Erik Satie, mis piezas favoritas para piano.

NOCIONES PREVIAS:
Para tejer este chal es necesario saber tejer punto del derecho y del revés, montaje en punto del derecho para chales, remontar puntos, echar hebra y tejer puntos juntos.

CONSTRUCCIÓN:
Este chal se teje de arriba hacia abajo (top down) empezando por el borde superior, en el centro, con el montaje en “garter tab” o montaje en punto del derecho y creciendo hacia los laterales y hacia abajo, su forma final es de media luna.

TALLAS:
Talla única.

AGUJAS:
Agujas circulares de 4.5 mm (US 7) con cable de 80 cm (32”), o las necesarias para obtener la muestra de tensión. Una aguja de al menos un número mayor para el cierre de puntos.

ACCESORIOS:
Aguja lanera para rematar hebras.

HILO:
2 madejas Rêverie de Sóc una troca (100 % Merino Superwash; 220 m / 100g; 240 yds / 3.52 oz).

MUESTRA:
16 puntos y 22 vueltas para una muestra de 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4”) en punto jersey, después de bloquear.

This shawl owes its name to Laia, the creator of Sóc una troca, whose life has always gravitated around music.

Her grandfather taught her to read music when she was little, she learned to write music almost before words, she plays several instruments, sings, has taught music, and even directed some pieces. But her passion has always been harmony and the history of music. Even though now her principal occupation is dyeing, she leads a double life: yarns and colours during the day and score editing at night! So, to honour this important part of her life, she decided to name this shawl EUTERPE, the iconic muse of music (and she is usually represented with a flower-crown!).

It makes me really happy that Laia decided to give this name to the piece I designed with her wonderful yarns, as I found a great connection with her. I studied music until I went to university. I play transverse flute and piano, and during all my childhood and adolescence I was part of the municipal band in my home town, Ocaña (in the province of Toledo). Music has played a very active role in my life, and has made me become the person I am today.

Euterpe is a simple shawl, suitable for almost beginners, and it is a quick knit. Enjoy knitting it while listening to one of Erik Satie’s gnossiennes, one of my favourite pieces for piano.

SKILLS:
To knit this shawl, you need to know how to knit, purl, perform a garter tab cast-on, pick up stitches, yarn over, and make increases and decreases.

CONSTRUCTION:
This shawl is knit top-down, starting at the centre of the top border, with a garter tab cast-on, then growing to the sides and down, its final shape is a crescent.

SIZES:
One size.

NEEDLES:
4.5 mm (US 7) / 80 cm (32”) circular needles, or the required needle size to obtain gauge. Needles one size larger at least, for bind-off.

NOTIONS:
Tapestry needle to weave in ends.
