Evan
Evan is a garter stitch scarf suitable for beginning to advanced beginning knitters. Since Evan is knit sideways, with the MY doubled, it’s a good project for the beginning knitter who wants to shake things up a little, but not so much that he/she will feel overwhelmed.
Some techniques learned in this project:
- sideways knitting
- changing colors
- knitting with two strands of yarn (except for the stripes, which are knit with one strand)
Alpaca yarns give this scarf it’s wonderful softness and incredible warmth. It is a smoother fiber than wool, giving it a luster and drape that many wools lack.
MATERIALS
- Classic Elite Inca Alpaca, 4 hanks
- Plymouth Yarn Alpaca Boucle, 1 ball
- US 10 Circular Needles, 32”
- Tapestry Needle
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS*
approx. 60” long, 5.5” wide
Errata…thank you to Amanda for pointing out to me that the photo and the pattern do not match up. Here is how the pattern should read (up until row 30 everything is correct):
Rows 31-36: With MY, knit across each row.
Rows 37-38: Repeat rows 5-6.
Rows 39-41: With MY, knit across each row.
Row 42: BO loosely. Weave in all ends.
*Gray/Charcoal scarf in Paca Tweed, size US 11 circular needle. I CO 200 sts with 2 strands of Paca Tweed and knit only 4 stripes with one strand Alpaca Boucle.
