Available in English and Spanish
Dive into a world of delicate transitions and ethereal warmth with my latest knitting pattern, designed to create an airy, long cardigan that embodies both comfort and elegance. This pattern guides you through knitting a piece that’s as light as a feather yet incredibly warm, combining subtle color gradients with intricate textures.
Elegant Simplicity Meets Delicate Warmth
Knitted from the top down, this cardigan utilizes two strands of lace-weight mohair/silk blend, artfully blending colors from one to the next. Its simple construction features short row shaping for the shoulders, drop sleeves, and a subtle V-shaped neckline, making it an accessible project for advanced beginners, and a fun and relaxing knit for the experienced ones.
A Harmony of Texture and Color
The cardigan’s body is adorned with a delicate lace pattern, providing a sophisticated touch that contrasts beautifully with the simplicity of the stockinette stitch sleeves. The use of mohair skeins creates a piece that is as warm as it is light, offering an unparalleled wearing experience.
Sizes for Everyone
Available in sizes 1 through 10, with a recommended ease of 6-10 inches for a comfortable and flattering fit.
Finished bust circumference (with fronts closed, pinned over the bust): 38 (42, 46, 50, 54, 58, 62, 66, 70, 74)“ 95 (105, 115, 125, 135, 145, 155, 165, 175, 185) cm.
Materials and Color Management
I’ve meticulously planned the yarn requirements to maximize efficiency and minimize waste. Whether you’re using six colors as showcased or opting for a more personalized palette, our pattern includes a dedicated section on color management to help you achieve a seamless gradient effect, without having to buy extra yarn.
The requirements shown below assume you are using 6 colors to make a version that looks exactly like mine. Find more color guidance in the pattern.
Yarn: 6 (6, 6, 12, 12, 12, 12, 12, 12, 12) skeins of Mohair by Frankie Grey Fibres (70% Mohair / 30% Silk; 477yd 436m; 50g), or 2289 (2575, 2862, 3291, 3720, 4149, 4579, 5008, 5437, 5724) yards 2092 (2354, 2616, 3008, 3400, 3793, 4185, 4578, 4970, 5232) m of lace weight mohair yarn. This takes into account that yarn needs to be held doubled throughout the sweater.
