The Evelyn Cardigan is perfect for those times when you need a lightweight sweater. The cardigan is knit from the bottom up, starting with the pattern stitch and then switching to stockinette for the body of the sweater. The sleeves are knit separately in the round and then attached to the body of the sweater at the underarm using a three needle bind off.

The pattern contains details for the pattern stitch and short rows (optional). The pattern is suitable for an intermediate knitter with experience keeping track of increases, decreases, pattern stitches, picking up stitches, and knitting button holes.

While I recommend that you select a yarn with a recommended gauge of 28 sts and 35 rows in 4 inches, the pattern has been adjusted to account for 24 and 26 stitches per 4 inches. The objective is for you to use the yarn you want, with in the scope of a fingering to sock weight yarn.

The pattern is written for bust sizes 28-52 inches. The knitter can lengthen or shorten the body and/or sleeve lengths. Adjust the yarn quantity as needed.
