Evelyn is a little vintage-inspired purse with a crochet-like knit edging, textural stitches and an optional button loop and strap. Cute and simple, you can knit this bag in an evening or two!

YARN AND YARDAGE
Sport or DK weight yarn
Bag only: about 75 yd
Strap: approximately 25 yd additional

Yarns used in my samples:
Quince and Company Willet (sport weight), 100% cotton, 160 yd/50 g, colorway Windlass
Quince and Company Chickadee (sport/dk weight), 100% wool, 181 yd/50 g, colorway Egret

NEEDLES AND NOTIONS
Straight needles, size 3 (or you can use your circular needle as a straight needle!)
Short circular needle, size 3 (around 12” will work best) or DPN
Tapestry Needle
Stitch Marker or scrap yarn
A decorative button if using that closure style (I used a shank style button around ¾ inches in diameter)

GAUGE
18 stitches/22 rounds = 4 inches (10 cm)

FINAL DIMENSIONS
12 in (30 cm) circumference, 7 in (18 cm) tall

There are a few tricky stitches in this pattern - once you’ve gotten the hang of them they’re actually not hard at all, but they can be a little confusing to learn! I wouldn’t try this pattern if you’re a total beginner.
