Evening at the Lighthouse
Evening at the Lighthouse is a pair of stranded and lined mittens in the Selbu style, with thumb gusset and pointed tip. The back-of-hand pattern is different for each mitten and shows a lighthouse in the moment just before and just after its lamp has been lit. The lining is worked from the ribbed inner cuff in the opposite direction. The mittens can be made single layered by omitting the lining. Due to the large number of stitches, small differences in gauge can make a big difference in size, so I recommend swatching and/or measuring your gauge repeatedly. It is best to have some experience with stranded knitting before embarking on this project.
Yarn requirements:
Lined, outer mittens: Fingering weight wool yarn. Choose a bouncy yarn which knits up evenly and helps even out irregularities in tension.
