Crochet this stunning summer-weight triangle crochet shawl, a perfect quick and beginner-friendly project!

The Evening Primrose Shawl uses sport-weight yarn for a light and feminine shawl to accessorize your favorite summer outfits. The finished shawl features three coordinating hanks of hand-dyed yarn in soft tones for a unique and vintage-inspired look, but customizations for yarn and color choices are endless and you can truly make this shawl your own. If you have been holding on to some special unicorn skeins of hand-dyed yarn, this is the perfect project to showcase them!

The shawl is created by increasing the stitch count by six stitches for each row and uses double crochet for the majority of the project for an easy beginner-friendly make. The shawl is finished with a feminine ruffle-like edging of single crochet stitches and chains worked into the same stitch. Using sport-weight yarn keeps this shawl from becoming too bulky and heavy so you can wear it as a scarf around the neck or as a shawl across your shoulders.

Get started today to create your own unique shawl - I can’t wait to see the personal touch you add to your finished shawl!

Skill Level - Advanced Beginner

The featured shawl is made with #2/Sport Weight Yarn, approximately 984 yards used in three contrasting colorways, and uses a US Size H/8 5.00 mm crochet hook.

Featured yarn: Sewrella Yarn Downton Abbey Collection #2/Classic Sport 100% Superwash Merino Wool – 328 yards/100g

  • Color A – The Dowager (1 hank, 328 yards)
  • Color B – Mrs. Patmore’s Kitchen (1 hank, 328 yards)
  • Color C – Edith (1 hank, 328 yards)

GAUGE: 15 dc X 10 rows = 4 inches
Gauge is not particularly important for this project as long as the drape of your project is as desired. If the shawl is stiff and the stitches are working too tightly, consider going up a half or whole hook size.

Finished Shawl: approximately 69” x 44.5” x 44.5” and 26.5” from base to peak of triangle.
