These socks feature an illusion/shadow knitted ghost that appears and disappears depending on the angle viewed, just like real ghosts! They have slip stitch borders separating the front and back, a horizontal rib pattern on the instep and leg, a garter stitch short row heel and a twisted rib cuff. They are constructed from the cuff down with 4-ply / fingering weight sock yarn. We have made a Halloween Boo version and a Ghost of Christmas Past version. They are suitable for either event and the ghost appears eventually.

Sizes 1 (2, 3, 4)
To fit foot circumference: 20.5-23 (23-25, 25-28, 28-31)cm / 8-9 (9-10, 10-11, 11-12)” with approximately 2.5cm / 1” negative ease. If you are in two sizes, choose the smaller for a snug fit or the larger for a looser fit.
Foot length is adjustable within the pattern. Finished socks measure approximately 1.5cm / 0.5” less than actual foot length for a good fit.

Yarn: 4-ply / fingering weight sock yarn in at least 2 different highly contrasting colours. We have used 3 to add a contrasting toe and heel.
MC: 183 (230, 284, 341) yds / 168 (211, 260, 312)m
CC1: 52 (59, 67, 79) yds / 48 (54, 63, 73) m
CC2: 39 (56, 79, 100) yds / 36 (52, 73, 92)m

Gauge: 34 sts & 48 rnds = 10cm / 4” over St st on 2mm (US 0) needles after blocking.
34 sts & 60 rnds = 10cm / 4” over horizontal rib pattern on leg and instep, on 2mm (US 0) needles after blocking.

Needles: Circular or double pointed needles suitable for working small circumferences, in the size that achieves gauge.

Notions: 2 st markers, st holder / waste yarn, tapestry needle.
