This is the first pattern in the Autumn Adventures Sock Club. The club will be available for purchase on Ravelry for the first 48 hours of publishing and then will be available only on https://shop.purlkitty.com/b/autumnclub23

These socks are an ode to the Pacific Coast and memories of driving up and down them on road trips as a kid during the late part of Summer and early Fall. While it may be hot still in the beginning of Fall, it’s always cool and comfortable on the coast which starts to call in that feeling of cooler days that are to come.

This pattern is the perfect blend of mountain-inspired texture with an easy-to-memorize pattern. While your early Fall road trips may not include the Pacific coast, they’ll be perfect to knit in the passenger seat wherever you travel.

Gauge: 8.25 stitches/inch on 2.25 mm (US 1) circular needles.

Sizing: 1 (2,3) - which fits a foot circumference of (unstretched) 7.25 inches (8 inches, 8.25 inches) around.

Yarn: The sample is knit from Bergere De France Goomy 50. I would recommend any 3-4 ply sock yarn that will give you a gauge of 32 stitches/4 inches. Lighter colors would be the optimal choice, but tonals, semi-solids, solids, and light speckles will do as well.

Sample: Bergere de France Goomy 50 (2 balls) 75% Wool, 25% Nylon 50 grams & 235 yards/ball.

Materials:

  • US 1 (2.25) circular knitting needles (or size needed to get gauge), I recommend at least 32 inches (my preferred length). You can substitute DPNs and 9-inch circulars for circulars as well and I’ll show you how. 100 grams of fingering-weight sock yarn.
  • Stitch marker or locking stitch marker (optional)
  • Ruler or measuring tape.
  • Darning needle
  • Sock blockers to photograph your socks once you’re done! (optional).

Notes: This pattern is written for magic loop, but can easily be changed to DPNs. Use 2 needles for N1, and another 2 for N2. If you’re using 9-inch circulars, there will be notes throughout to guide you.
