Stilly River Yarns’s knitting pattern for the 2023 Puget Sound LYS Tour

One of my spring tasks is to gather all of the bits and pieces of my fiber arts work that migrate throughout the house each winter. Inevitably, this leads to several tiny balls of sock yarn making their way into my leftovers storage bags. This year, as I was cleaning, I decided to find a way to let those little bits shine - these fingerless mitts ended up being the perfect canvas.

  • Sizes - measured around palm, unstretched - S (5” / 13 cm), M (6” / 15 cm), L (7” / 18 cm)
  • The contrast color embellishment isn’t stranded colorwork, intarsia, or embroidery - you use the ladders left over from dropped stitches as a framework to add in lengths of contrasting yarn with a crochet hook (but no previous crochet experience is necessary). The pattern includes a video tutorial.
  • Project cost if using featured yarn at 10% Tour discount - around $11 (but each ball of yarn will make 2 pairs of mitts at gauge, so technically $5.50)
  • If you’d like to use this as a stashbusting project, this pattern and associated techniques work best with smooth, plied yarns for both the main fabric and the leftovers you’re using for embellishment

NOTE: The pattern is free to anyone visiting the shop or placing an online / phone order during the Tour dates - if you love the pattern but can’t swing a visit or an order, the price will go down to $4.50 on May 22.
