Every Now & Then
The Every Now & Then striped blanket is knit entirely in garter stitch using super bulky yarn and US 13 knitting needles. It’s easy to knit and beginner friendly!
Every now and then… wrapping up in a cozy blanket and sipping hot tea is the perfect way to relax at the end of the day.

THROW BLANKET - ONE SIZE: 40” wide x 48” long
To make blanket longer purchase more of Color A. Each additional 2” of length requires 45 - 50 yards. (Details in pattern.)
SUPER BULKY #6 WEIGHT YARN:
Color A: 440 - 450 yards
Color B: 215 - 225 yards
Color C: 320 - 330 yards
I used 5 skeins of Lion Brand Re-Spun Thick & Quick in the sample shown:
Color A: 2 skeins Night Sky #110
Color B: 1 skein Whipped Cream #098
Color C: 2 skeins Olive Branch #172
This pattern will also work well with Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick or Lion Brand Hometown super bulky.
See my blog post about the pattern for more details on yarn options and quantity needed.
This design will work with many yarn color combinations. To create contrast, consider using two medium or dark yarn colors paired with one light colorway. There are limitless possibilities!
KNITTING KIT: Lion Brand offers a knitting kit to make the Every Now & Then Blanket. The kit includes a PDF digital pattern and 5 skeins of Re-Spun Thick & Quick yarn. Customize the kit by picking your three favorite colorways.
KNITTING NEEDLES: Blanket is knit flat, in one piece on US size 13 circular knitting needles
GAUGE: Garter stitch with US size 13 needles: 10 sts & 18 rows (9 garter ridges) = 4”
Take time to check gauge. A different gauge may require more (or less) yarn and impact finished size.
SKILL LEVEL: Easy / Beginner
You will need to know how to cast on stitches, knit confidently, read a knitting pattern written in English using standard US knitting terms, and bind off stitches. See tips for weaving in ends on FiftyFourTenStudio.com.
