Gauge is not important in this pattern.
I am not quite sure about the exact yardage for the bag, but you will need approx. 4 skeins of worsted weight yarn (depending on the size of your bag) each with 244 yards/223 meters. The bag is made by working with two strands of yarn as if they were one strand.
Additional materials are scissors and a yarn needle to fasten off, weave in ends, and sew on handle.
