This shawl is an ode to The LEGO® Group and the LEGO® Movie franchises.  I adore everything about the LEGO® Movie; the plot, cast, animation, and the songs (one of which is this pattern’s namesake).  My senior yearbook quote originated from the movie, “I think I got it, but just in case, tell me the whole thing again. I wasn’t listening,” a line from Chris Pratt’s character Emmet.

The pattern uses a simple four row repeat but it incorporates a row of modified half double crochets to create a brioche style stitch.  The modified crochet brioche stitches make subtle texture stripes in the shawl to mimic a wall of stacked LEGO® bricks.  Pompoms on the edging are to represent the raised studs on the top of the interlocking LEGO® brick.

Each sample is crocheted with two skeins of fingering weight yarn of at least 800 yards/730 meters total.  Hedgehog Fibers Merino DK was used for the pompoms on both samples.  The playfulness of the inspiration gives you an opportunity to be imaginative in the finishes:  more, less, or no pompoms; tassels instead of pompoms; and a variety of yarns for the shawl and embellishments or the same yarn used throughout.  This is an excellent shawl for extra creativity.
