Enjoy the elegant simplicity of these two designs. There are two patterns which have different depths and are the same circumference.
Size 10 circular needles in a 32” length.
Self-striping yarns are recommended.
Large: 9” deep x 46” in circumference.
Small: 4 1/2” deep x 46” in circumference.
Note: You may use size 9 needles as well for a tighter gauge and smaller circumference.

Everything’s OK Cowls
I find that one of the most comforting things
to do while waiting is to knit something.
It cushions the minutes and hours while you wait for surgery and test results, while you wait for the doctor, while you wait to find out how today will change your life…

I was sitting and knitting with my dear friend while her husband was in a very delicate surgery. There was a chance he had cancer. There was a chance he would experience partial facial paralysis if the surgery didn’t go just perfectly. There was a chance the news wouldn’t be good. So I sat with her and we knit.

We glanced at the surgery schedule, but didn’t talk about the worry we were feeling as the minutes and hours went by. We kept track of his name on the monitor and we knit.
Her daughter joined us while we waited and knit. My friend finished the larger cowl and modeled it for me.

It was a lengthy surgery, but knitting made the time go by less painfully. Then the surgeon came into the room. Everything was ok. It was the best possible scenario and he was going to be just fine!

So, we wrote the pattern and named the cowls for the happy outcome of the day - Everything’s OK.
Knitting was more than a pastime that day.
