Evie Beret
This is a 6-page digital pdf pattern for this beautiful, timeless crochet beret. Featuring crochet bobbles to give it a lovely design and texture. The pdf includes a visual guide and a chart.
You can use chunky or aran weight yarn with the same hook to create a sturdy or soft beret.
please note this pattern can also be viewed for free on my blog www.lululoves.co.uk (without the chart). The benefits of purchasing a copy of the pdf are that it is ad-free, printable, easy to read and includes a chart and means you are entitled to support should you need it.
Yarn: Wool and the Gang Alpachino Merino (chunky) 60% Merino, 40% Baby Alpaca (100g/100m/109yds) 2 balls (160g) needed or
Bernat Baby Velvet (aran), 100% polyester, (3o0g/450m/492yds) – 1 ball (90g) needed.
Shades: WATG = Chestnut Brown / Cameo Rose (used for step by step photos)
Bernat Baby Velvet = Restful Rose
Yarn Alternatives: You can use any chunky weight yarn to achieve a similar effect but remember to check your gauge. If you are going to use aran weight yarn I recommend you use a 6mm hook to get gauge. The aran weight yarn gives a more drapey hat whereas the chunky yarn gives a sturdier hat.
Hook: 6mm (J-10)
Other Materials: Yarn needle, scissors, tape measure.
Measurements: One size to fit an average adult woman’s head (approx. 22” head circumference)
Finished Beret Dimensions: Outside diameter approx. 30cm/ inside diameter approx. 17.5cm
Pattern includes information to adapt hat for a smaller head size (or if you are using a substitute yarn and find your hat is coming up larger) see pattern for full instructions.
Gauge: Rounds 1-3 should measure 11cm/4.3” in diameter using either of the suggested yarns and 6mm crochet hook.
Pattern Notes: Beret is worked in one piece from crown in joined, unturned rounds. Notes are given at various points regarding sizing.
This pattern is written in UK crochet terms - see abbreviations and US equivalent stitches are listed at beginning of pattern. See page 5 for pattern chart.
