Evighet are a pair of fingering-weight toe-up socks with a delicate and timeless stitch pattern that resembles long-forgotten pressed flowers I found between the pages of an old diary. Although faded and wilted, seeing the flowers transported me back in time to the very day I picked them.

A stockinette toe gradually transforms into a stitch pattern with tiny buds surrounded by wavy twisted stitch columns. The heel flap is worked in a variation of twisted ribbing, morphing seamlessly into the main stitch pattern and flowing beautifully into a short twisted-rib cuff.

Evighet socks come in three sizes: 62, 66, and 70 stitches. Right and left socks are identical and can be knit two at a time.

Both written and charted instructions are given for the stitch pattern. The pattern is written with both metric and US terminology.

Choose a size with approx. 10% of negative ease.

TECHNIQUES USED
The pattern uses the following techniques: working small circumferences in the round, twisted stitches, lace, and German short rows. Ability to follow charts is recommended but written instructions are also provided for the stitch pattern. The pattern assumes knowledge of a cast-on and bind-off method for toe-up socks; references are given for a few alternatives.

Evighet-sukat neulotaan varpaista varteen fingering-vahvuisella langalla. Sukkia koristaa siro, kuivattuja kukkia muistuttava ajattoman kaunis pintaneule, joka tehdään kierretyillä silmukoilla.

Sukkien sileä kärki muuttuu asteittain kuin pienten kukannuppujen peittämäksi pintaneuleeksi. Kantalapussa neulotaan kierrettyä joustinta. Varren kuvio jatkuu sulavasti kantalapun joustimesta. Sukansuussa on lyhyt, niin ikään kierrettynä joustimena neulottava resori.

Evighet-sukista on kolme kokoa: 62, 66 ja 70 silmukkaa. Oikea ja vasen sukka ovat keskenään samanlaiset, joten ne voi neuloa mainiosti yhtä aikaa samalla pyöröpuikolla.
