Evil Queen - Shawl
Designed for the Phat Fiber Sampler Box February 2013 – All Things Purple
Purple is a regal hue, residing on the color spectrum
between fiery red and cool blue. The color of royalty, purple
can be cool or hot. This shawl pattern was inspired by a
particular yarn from Storied Yarns, from the Stock Characters
line - “Evil Queen”. Dark, subtle, tones from black plum to dark
lavender with hints of silver. Polwarth fiber is long stapled with
a soft hand, second only to Merino in fineness and softness.
The touch of silk adds that royal touch and and a bit of
drape. The shaping is simple, the left and right leaning
diagonal mesh create a gentle shoulder cradling angle.
Elbow length when worn on shoulders, it can also be wrapped
as cowl or worn bunched up around the neck with long tails.
The simple stockinette back wedge gives stability to the 2
mesh sections, highlighting the beauty of the yarn.
Knit in one piece from lower edge to top edge. A knitted
cast on is used for elasticity, but the cast on method of your
choice may be used. See the following link for making a
