Evocative Eggplant
This is a beginner-friendly pattern for a perfectly plump little nightshade plant. Simple stockinette stitch knitting with basic increases and decreases makes for two pieces which are then stitched together. The instructions are for knitting flat, but the pattern is very adaptable for working in the round to reduce sewing. Heavier Worsted or Aran weight yarn paired with size US 6 (4.00mm) needles produces a handsome eggplant measuring roughly 7-8” in length.
NOTIONS:
Pair US 6 / 4.00 mm knitting needles
Embroidery needle
MATERIALS:
10 g Aubergine Worsted to Aran Wt. Yarn
2 g Green Sport to Worsted Wt. yarn
Poly-fill for stuffing
GAUGE:
Different size needles and yarn can be substituted. Gauge is not important for this project so long as the yarn used for the ‘edible’ purple portion is more bulky than recommended for the needles you are using. The green portion yarn weight is less essential and a lighter weight yarn can be used.
SKILLS:
Basic knitting technique, with simple increases, decreases, and seaming. I-cord optional.
