A few years back, when we all started relying more heavily on text messaging, we tried to teach my mom to text, with rather poor results. Once she managed to send my sister a text that just said “X9.” Apparently what she was trying to type was “I love you.” X9 instantly became shorthand in our family for “I love you,” and though my mom passed away 2 years ago, we continue to use it.
Nothing says “I love you” like a pair of handknit socks, and now you can say X9 to your loved ones with the Ex Nine socks, sized for the whole family. Worked from the cuff down, they feature a textured check pattern that’s simple to knit, easy to memorize, and plays nicely with speckled, tonal and striping yarns.
