Exes and Ohs is a garter lace and Indian Cross Stitch shawlette/capelet that covers the upper shoulders and back and closes on the neck with a button. I wanted to make a small piece that was formal for special nights out, and yet would stay in place and not flop into the dessert or sherry! It is worked back and forth with only knit stitches. Skills needed include: casting on and off, yarn over, knit two together, make one, wrapping and picking up dropped stitches. One full skein (200 yards) of the wool yarn is used, and around 120 yards of the tape/ribbon yarn. Gauge is not critical for this project, use the needle size that gives you a fabric that you like. Pattern is for one size only. You will also need a circular needle size 6 with a cable long enough for you to work comfortably once all the increases have been done.
