Expandable celebration garland
This is a PDF pattern for a boho vintage look, 3-D expanding paper chain style garland. Use it instead of bunting! Folds flat to take up less space when not needed. Size is adaptable by omitting or adding links. The size photographed looks lovely spanning a 36 inch (3 ft) gap but you can easily adjust it to fit your perfect place. A wonderful addition to your home, garden or wedding venue!
After payment, you will have access to two PDF files - one with the pattern in US terms and one with UK terms.
For the garland photographed, I have used Scheepjes Sugar Rush yarn, held doubled to make it a 4ply yarn. In order to get the same drape, I suggest you use a cotton based yarn.
When flat, the chain links measure approximately 4.5 inches diameter.
This pattern is suitable for advanced beginners, only basic stitches are used. The way the motifs are joined may not be familiar but there is a full colour photographic tutorial (26 photographs) over 14 pages of super clear instructions to guide you through through the process. I am always available on the end of a message to help if you have any queries whatsoever!
The pattern - as I’ve made it - uses a total of 150g in six different colours. You can use as many colours as you like though I suggest three as a minimum. For the photographed item: Jade (514), Candle Light (101), Electric Blue (201) Crystaline (385) Tropic (253), Bluebird (247) were used. The quantity needed is between 25-50g of each colour.
I’ve used beach hut colours here but I can imagine it looking marvellous made up in orange/purple/black/gold for a halloween party or choose Christmas colours for winter holidays.
A typical hook to use is 3mm (5/0). You may have to adjust hook size to achieve the correct gauge.
