Ready for a road trip?

Let’s create stripes that we can “travel” down on our expedition. The stripes remind me of roads or highways. Your shaping increases will be on the left edge creating a unique edge that isn’t cluttered with changes in color.

Feel free to customize the design by adding more striped sections or lace sections but doing so will change the amount of required yarn for the project.

I can’t wait to see your color combinations and finished projects! Don’t forget to post them here and on Instagram using the hashtag #expeditionshawl.

Materials

  • The shawl is knit using two different colors of yarn. I would suggest solid or tonal yarns so the lace design shows up well.
  • The shawl is knit with a size 5 needle and the pattern calls for a size 6 to be used for the bind off row to create a loose edge.
  • 31 removable stitch markers to help through the lace repeats.
  • Blocking wires are also very helpful in blocking the two straight edges.

Size
59” x 42” (150cm x 107cm)
