Expeditious is a symmetrical half circular shawl knit from the center top down. The shawl was designed for variegated or tonal yarn to create different pooling and striping, but will work with any wool based yarn. The pattern includes directions for a fingering weight or worsted weight version. Both samples used just under 400 yards of yarn, but the pattern can be easily modified to be larger by adding more repeats. The mesh portion is not lace, but instead elongated crisscrossed stitches. No stitches are knit together until the bind off.

This pattern calls for:
1 or more skeins (400+ yards) of a fingering weight yarn (sample in Malabrigo Mechita Aniversario) as well as US size 5 (3.75mm) 40” circular needles and a US size 7 (4.5mm) needle for the bind off.
or
2 or more skeins (400+ yards) of a worsted weight yarn (sample in Malabrigo Playa) as well as US size 8 (5mm) 40” circular needles and a size 10 (6mm) for the bind off.

You will also need 2 stitch markers, a tapestry needle, scissors and blocking materials.

The finished measurements of the fingering weight sample are 48 inches long by 16.5 inches deep at the widest point. The measurements of the worsted weight sample are 50 inches long by 18 inches deep at the widest point. The shawl was designed to be deep to cover shoulders and much of the upper arms but have a shorter length.
