Handmade blankets carry sentimental values and sometimes they live for generations. I designed this blanket as a baby blanket that can be used later on as lap-blanket when the child is older. You can make it in one color, two colors or more. The Extended Basket Weave stitches enhance the look of  weaved wide and thin stripes of fibers just to add some visual interest.

The pattern instructions are written for 1-color blanket and 2-colors blanket. The 1-color blanket has 12 horizontal sections and 10 rows in each section, while the 2-colors blanket has 11 horizontal sections and 11 rows in each section. I’ve also included the yardage for each section in case you’d like to make each section in different color.

The product of this pattern makes a thoughtful gift for a new born or a first year birthday.
