Experienced: Due to the lacework and entrelac. My goal in making this pattern was to make make it so that an experienced knitter could pick up this pattern and create this shawl-even without entrelac experience. You do not need to know how to knit backwards to knit this shawl. The most difficult part of the lace pattern is the center of each ‘eye.’ There is a double yarn over. If you have never done it before, don’t be scared, it really isn’t that hard-this is great practice-as there aren’t that many in this pattern.

Gauge is not exteremly important, but if you want the same drape as my stole, one square (there is a gauge swatch square chart as well as written included in the pattern) is 3.5” x 3” (preblocked). You may go up or down an needle size as needed, but plan your yarn accordingly. My shawl used just under three skeins. When in doubt, buy more!

The directions for this shawl allow you to make the piece wider (or more narrow) as well as however long you desire, so again, I did my best for a Choose Your Own Ending (I do love those so).

There is a chart included in this pattern, however for the most part this is considered a written pattern. The chart is mainly just to see how the lace is laid out. You will need to read the written portions to do the majority of the work. Once you have done a few rows and get the ‘feel’ for the work you may want to switch to the chart if you find it easier.
