This rugged and perennial favorite for the needle worker is knit on #8 needles in the easiest of the slipstitch patterns, Eye of the Partridge, a centuries-old pattern stitch originating in France. This pullover was designed in the ‘60s, which speaks for the enduring quality of a timeless design. Updated in 2006, this design now has additional large sizes up to Size 50.

Slipstitch patterns are most effective when knit with smooth, evenly spun yarns, and it is important to use both the main color and the contrasting color of the same yarn to achieve distinct and even patterning.

Lanolin-rich raw wool, which adds extra body and warmth, is a perfect match for this rugged outdoor pullover; however any quality worsted weight wool will do justice to your needlework.
