Exact yarn amounts and gauges cannot be given since a wide range of sizes and yarn thicknesses are included in this pattern. Generally, adult sizes will require 100-200g of yarn; smaller sizes will need less. Please be aware that ribbed fabric is denser than less textured fabric, so this beanie may take more yarn than you expect – prepare accordingly!

To me, ribbed beanies are supposed to fit snugly on the head: therefore, the beanie circumference is smaller than the corresponding maximum head size (also known as negative ease).
