Eyemask-in-a-Hat
Free pattern available for download on February 27, 2012
Someone on the Men Who Knit website asked for an eye-mask pattern to knit. Someone else suggested to look at the Ravelry items and so did I.
I didn’t see anything I would like to wear personally and thought about it, until I came up with this eye-mask integrated in a hat. What better way for a traveller to take a nap on the long flight than to just pull down his hat a bit until the band covers his eyes? No need to fumble in his bag for an elusive mask: he’s already wearing it on his head, and the hat part protects his head from the cold A/C. The party animal will be happy to have one too for catching some zzzs at the beach.
To be a functional eye-mask, the hat band had to be wide enough and very dark. Here it is 4 inches wide, folded in half, and the colors are: espresso with sky blue, black with silver, and blackcurrant with purple and red.
I am using the black/silver one and it works like a charm! I fall asleep instantly and wake up refreshed after a 20 minutes nap.
