I had this idea for as a gift for teachers! They can use this lanyard especially outside, out and about with children and are easy to spot out with high contrast colours (neon, reflective).

Is customizable in length, so if you want longer or even shorter for a keychain is completely up to you!

The gauge is not very important and is good to use your scraps!!!
Very little amount of yarn needed. At least 2 colours for contrast.
