Eyjafjallajökull Shawl
If you purchase 5 patterns from my Ravelry Store at the same time (add them all to your cart before you check out), the least expensive one will be free.
Eyjafjallajökull Shawl is a circular shawl inspired by the Icelandic Volcano.
In March 2010, and then again in April the Eyjafjallajökull volcano erupted on Iceland. And on the news we saw spectacular pictures of the volcano, the lava, and (of course) the ash-clouds that are still disrupting air traffic occasionally. And whatever else the erupting volcano might be, some of those pictures were truly amazing, and my imagination started running wild with fires and streams of lava. Naturally this shawl had to be a circular shawl, so that the lava could start in the centre and work its way out.
The pattern is charted, with lace patterning on every other row.
Note: While this is a large circular shawl, since it is knit in fingering weight yarn, the stitch-count on even the final rounds stays below 600 stitches.
The pattern is available in English, German and French on Ravelry and in English, French and Icelandic in the Icelandic Knitter Webzine.
