Eywa is the fifth and final pattern of The Cables Collection.

Everything is in equilibrium in this well-balanced crescent shawl. The body of the shawl is worked first, with the cable edging featuring Norah Gaughan’s “Dual Rib Diamond Pattern” worked on at the end. The interwoven stitches of the edging are extremely satisfying to work, with an addictively repetitive stitch pattern that feels like magic as it flies off the needles.

The pattern includes directions for the advanced (but very doable!) cable manoeuvres, as well as the standard increases and decreases. Options for three sizes are given in the directions, of which the smallest is shown in the pictures.

Sport weight: Quince & Co. Chickadee Organic Heathers; 100% organic wool; 150 m (164 yd)/50 g; in Iceland 153;
Yardage for small {medium, large} shawl: 681 {771, 848} m / 745 {843, 927} yd / 227 {257, 283} g or 5 - 6 skeins

If substituting the yarn, aim for high-twist multi-ply
yarns and natural fibres in solid or semi-solid colours.

4 mm/US#6 circular needle, 100 cm (40 in) or longer
Cable needle

Alles ist im Gleichgewicht mit Eywa, einem fast halbkreisförmigen Tuch.

Zunächst wird von innen nach außen glatt rechts gestrickt, anschließend die Borte in senkrechten Reihen angefügt. Letztere zeigt das „doppelt gerippte Rautenmuster“ von Norah Gaughan, welches sich wirklich sehr angenehm und kurzweilig stricken lässt.

Die Zöpfe von Eywa sind kein Standard, aber sehr machbar! Das Muster erklärt genau, wie sie gearbeitet werden. Zudem sind Angaben für drei Tuchgrößen in der Anleitung enthalten, die kleinste von ihnen ist abgebildet.

Soll das Garn ersetzt werden, empfehlen sich mehrfach verzwirnte Naturfasern mit nicht zu stark ausgeprägter Eigenmusterung, damit die Zöpfe gut zur Geltung kommen.
