Facile Sweater
It’s a drop shoulder sweater with a flattering fit. I called it “Facile” (it means “easy, effortless” in French) because the construction of this sweater is very simple.
The stitch patterns are arranged in such a way, that they create a lovely shaping and make the sweater flow around your body. Without much effort, you make a flattering silhouette that is also very comfortable to wear.
This sweater is one of those projects that instantly become your favourites. The original sweater (the one I occasionally wear when I make video tutorials) is over three years old. I still love it to pieces and wear it quite often.
It is knit with silk yarn, but for the sample sweater described in the pattern, I used a different yarn - bamboo. It has a lovely feel and drape and is not as expensive as silk.
Why did I think about the cost of yarn? Because this pattern is perfect for a “first sweater” project. And normally we don’t splurge on yarn when we make a sweater for the first time.
If you decide to make this sweater with silk, you can easily do it. As long as the yarn is in DK weight (digit 3 on the yarn label), you will have no problem knitting this sweater with silk.
The pattern provides instructions for 18 sizes:
Kids’ sizes: to fit chest 55, 57, 60, 66, 68 cm (21.75, 22.5, 23.5, 26,”26.75″)—approximately fits 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 year old kids.
