Fade Into Christmas
Fade Into Christmas is the perfect cosy project to showcase your advent mini skeins! The throw is crocheted from corner to corner fading through 24 different colours, before finishing off with a contrast border. The project is simple and mindless which means you can just enjoy watching the colours fade into one another.
What I love even more about this design is that it can also double up as a cosy shawl when you fold it in half!
Yarn: The sample for the throw used a total of 2369yds / 2167m of fingering weight yarn.
The sample used 24 x 20g mini skeins, however you can adjust the size of the throw by using fewer mini skeins if you would like. You will also require an additional 138yds / 127m (30g) of fingering weight yarn in a contrast colour for the border.
The sample uses the 2020 Advent Calendar mini skeins from Birdstreet Yarn (93yds / 85m per 20g) (75% merino, 25% nylon).
Recommended Hook Size: 3.5mm (US Size E) crochet hook, or appropriate size to obtain gauge.
Gauge: 18 sts / 11 rows = 4” (10cm) rows in treble crochet (UK term) worked flat.
Finished Measurements: One Size - Width: 43” (109cm), Length: 43” (109cm)
Errata: There was an error in Version 1 of the pattern which originally stated: keep C1 attached for the Fade Section.
(The yarn carried up the sides should not be visible once
you have worked the border at the end of the project.)
This has now been amended to:
You will need to break yarn after every row during each Fade Section.
