Faded Love Cowl
The Faded Love Cowl utilizes 4 colors of super bulky yarn (but you may use as many or as few colors as you like to make your stripes). You will need at least 90 yards of your base color, and 17 yards of each contrasting color if you follow the stripe pattern of 3,4,3. You need about 51 yards total of your contrasting colors, so you can divvy that yardage up amongst however many colors you like. (approximately 6 yards per row).
I used Malabrigo Rasta for my samples, but my testers used a few other super bulky options listed above. Some of these will result in slightly larger (WAK or WATG) or slightly smaller (LB T&Q) cowls, but will still result in a beautiful adult sized colorwork cowl.
The colorwork for this pattern is very simple and beginner friendly, because your floats (yarn you have to carry along on your wrong side) are very short. I do recommend keeping an eye on your tension or your work could pucker. This is also why I recommend using a 24” circular as opposed to a 16”, because occasionally the puckering would not be immediately noticeable until you’ve made quite a bit of progress (on 16” needles the cowl being worked may be a bit bunched up on the needles).
