Fading Diamonds Cardigan
This pattern has been regraded and rewritten to fit bust circumferences of 30” - 66” / 75 cm - 165 cm. It has been tech edited and test knit.
Fading Diamonds is a top down raglan cardigan with a diamond lace motif. The motif starts out simple during the raglan shaping, then becomes more complex as the cardigan grows.
The cardigan is seamlessly knit flat in one piece until the raglan shaping is complete, then the sleeves are placed on hold. The body is continued flat, and the sleeves are later picked up and knit in the round. The neckband and button band are worked simultaneously with the rest of the body.
Despite the complexity of the lace, the cardigan comes together quickly due to the worsted weight yarn and loose gauge.

Sizing:The cardigan is meant to be worn with 2-4” / 5-10 cm of positive ease.
Please see the schematic and size chart in the photos for all the measurements. The first 4 rows are the body measurements the cardigan was graded to fit, A-H are the finished garment measurements.
Sample is size 2 worn with 4” / 10 cm of positive ease.
Fading Diamonds features compound raglan shaping for impeccable fit across the size range.
Gauge: 17 stitches and 25 rows in 4” in lace pattern.
One full diamond (17 stitches and 28 rows) should measure ~4” x 4.75” / 10 cm x 12 cm.
Please note that row gauge does make a big difference in cardigan and sleeve length, if your row gauge is different from the patterns you may need to make adjustments.
Yarn requirements:
5, 5, 6, (6, 6, 7) {8, 8, 8, 9} Skeins of Cascade Yarns Cantata (218 yards / 200 meters per 100g) 70% Cotton, 30% Wool.Sample shown in pink colorway.
Alternatively, 970, 1031, 1215, (1237, 1282, 1471){1531, 1677, 1704, 1763} yards / 886, 942, 1110, (1129, 1171, 1343){1398, 1531, 1555, 1609} meters of worsted weight yarn that gets you gauge.
My cream sample is knit in 100% cotton worsted weight yarn, it’s a little bit heavier than the blown Cantata, and slightly easier to care for.
