A 24-color shawl blended together to create a cozy tapestry of color!

I treated myself to my first yarn Advent calendar and decided to just ‘go with the flow’ and use the colors in the order they were unboxed. The result is a super cozy, squishy shawl that is large enough to wrap myself up in warmth!

FINISHED SIZE
One size. My DK version is approx. 61 in. / 155 cm wide at the neckline edge and approximately 31 in. / 79 cm deep when measured perpendicular to the neckline edge to the bottom point. This is measured with the shawl laid flat, unblocked.

YARN
Twisted Willow Yarn ‘Plush DK’ (DK weight; 80% superwash merino, 10% cashmere, 10% nylon; 250 yds / 229 m per 115g), The Forest Floor Calendar Set: 24 - 20g mini skeins (approx. 43 yds / 39 m per mini; see Pattern Notes for more info)

NEEDLES
US 7 / 4.5 mm, 40 in. / 100 cm circular needles or desired size to achieve a fabric you like with your weight of yarn (see Pattern Notes for more info)

NOTIONS
Locking stitch marker (1, optional)
Scale (very important)

Tapestry needle

PROJECT GAUGE
22 sts and 42 rows = 4 in. / 10 cm over garter st worked flat, taken without blocking (see Pattern Notes for more info)

PATTERN NOTES
This shawl is designed to use a 24-mini skein set, often available as an Advent set in December. This can also be a great stash-busting project for leftover / partial skeins!
You can knit this shawl using any weight of yarn you like. The original used DK weight yarn but can easily be adapted for any weight. It’s all in the weighing of. the skeins! I recommend between 480-500g of yarn to complete a shawl of my size.
Gauge is not critical for this project as you can knit until the shawl reaches your desired size - and as far as your yardage will allow! Choose a needle size that gives you a fabric you like.
The long circular needle is used to accommodate the large number of stitches as the shawl grows. You can use the needle length you prefer for comfort.
I found that the colors blended better on what I present to you as the “RS” rows in this shawl but I think it’s truly reversible. Wear it with the WS showing for a stripe-ier version!
Use a locking marker to help differentiate RS from WS before the slipped stitch pattern begins if necessary.
