This whimsical hat was designed with practicality in mind. The back and side shaping cover ears and neck while a ribbed border keeps out the winter wind. A snug fit along with ties wil keep this hat on even the wiggliest of babies, while a loop on top makes for easy removal by mom or dad. Pattern is written in five sizes (newborn - adult) and includes options for pixie or stocking style crown shaping. Simple enough for a beginner.

Finished Measurements
Circumference: 13 (15, 17, 20, 22)”
Depth: 5¼ (6¼, 7¼, 8½, 9¾)”

Materials
Yarn: In worsted weight yarn you will need approximately 100 (120, 140, 170, 200) yards or 90 (110, 125, 150, 180) meters. If you choose coordinating color (CC) for the border and ties it should be about 20% of your total yardage.

Needles: Double pointed needles (or needles appropriate for your preferred method of small circumference circular knitting) and 12” or 16” circular needles in US sizes 8 (5mm) and 6 (4mm) or size required to obtain gauge and two sizes smaller.

Notions: 4 stitch markers and a darning needle for weaving in ends.
