Faerie Slouchy Hat
My family has been attending the Texas Renaissance Festival for years. Some years ago, we saw our first fairy characters. They had flowery or
woodsy garb, wings and typically walked in a hunched over posture. My husband, who knows his folklore, would inquire of them, “Ye poor
wee lassies, did no one leave a drop of milk out for you?” The young women portraying fairies never got the joke, that he was implying that they all had osteoporosis. My husband, Robert David Strawn, recently completed two books in a series. The first is Headgames I - Fates and Fairies. The second is “Headgames II Myths and Mandolins.” The third book should be available before the end of 2015.
In honor of the joke that was never gotten and Bob achieving a lifelong dream of being a published author, I give you Fairy Slouch. This lacy, slouchy hat is knit in the round in a 2 row lacy pattern and is finished with I cord encasing elastic cord for a snug fit.
This pattern was a sample for the June 2010 Phat Fiber Sample Box “Midsummer Night’s Dream”. I’ve rerun it for the October 2015 box. The designer of this pattern is a proud contributor to the Phat Fiber Sample Box.
