Faeriesong Shortie Socks
♫ The Music ♫
In the iconic song When Irish Eyes are Smiling the lyrics speak of the magical:
“When your sweet lilting laughter’s
Like some fairy song
And your eyes twinkle bright
as can be…”
These shortie, toe-up socks begin with a modified wide toe. The instep and leg are worked in the Faeriesong pattern stitch while the sole is worked in Stockinette. The short-row (Fleegle) heel means no picking up sts. The cuff finishes with an easy 1x1 ribbing. These socks can easily be made as mid-calf socks by continuing to work the leg pattern. This will, of course, require additional yarn.
The stitch pattern in these socks matches the Faeriesong Fingerless Mitts.

Some Helpful Test Knitter Notes: Some testers found that this type of heel construction is extra roomy in the gusset area - great for someone with a high instep; there are some great tips on the test knitters’ project pages; if that extra room is not needed, some testers found going down a size worked well for them.
