Fager
Fager, meaning “fair” in Swedish, is a simple and elegant cardi, involving a top-down A-line shape with a ribbon closure. This knits up extremely quickly at a loose gauge, and involves almost no purling.
Worked with a fingering yarn held together with a lace weight mohair, you get a soft, warm and cosy cloud of a cardi to wrap around yourself in the chilly evenings. A perfect project for self-striping sock yarns!
Prefer a heavier drape? Try worsted weight instead!
The pattern has been test knitted in all sizes.
A few small changes were made to the pattern after the testing to improve the fit - mainly a shortening of the neckline in the larger sizes.
Sizes:
XS/S/M/L/XL (2X/3X/4X/5X)
Fitting an actual bust circumference of:
28/32/36/40/44 (48/52/56/60) inches
Note that sizing isn’t cricital, due to the open front of the cardigan.
The sizing is made for a loose fit. If you prefer a tighter fit, choose the size below the one you normally wear.
Materials and tools:
Fingering weight yarn, held together with a lace weight mohair
Of each yarn you need approximately:
400/450/500/550/610 (700/800/930/1000) yards or
365/410/460/500/560 (640/730/850/920) meters
Note: Depending on how the yarns work with each other, you sometimes need less of the lace mohair.
This cardigan can also be worked up just as nicely with two fingering threads held together, or one thread of any worsted weight yarn.
9 mm (US 13) circular needle, or size to get gauge.
12 mm (US 17) circular needle
Same size DPN’s, if not knitting sleeves with magic loop or short circular

4 stitch markers
