Fair Isle Cowl
This cowl with fair isle knitting patterns is a nice project to start, if you want to make something small with fair isle knitting or want to practice fair isle knitting.
You can use yarn from your stash, so you don’t have to buy the yarn mentioned above. Just select 8 colors and make sure you have enough contrast between the colors you are using per pattern (motif). I used 1 ball of yarn for the ribbing, for the remainder of the colors you can use leftovers.
Enjoy picking your colors and enjoy the knitting!
Size: 11 x 12 inch / 28 x 31 cm) (measured lying flat).
Stitches used: stockinette stitch (knit all stitches in the round), knit 2/purl 2 for the ribbing.
This pattern has 6 pages.
Supplies:
- Katia Basic Merino (52% Merino wool, 48% Acrylic, 50 grams = 120 meter), leftovers in color: 03 Off white, 08 Dark grey, 10 Beige (I used 1 ball), 22 Maroon, 30 Turqoise, 41 Mustard, 44 Dark Green or 16 Dark Green, 45 Blue
- Circular knitting needle size 6 US, 20 inch long / 4 mm, 50 cm lang
- Stitch markers
- Tapestry needle
You can use as many colors you like. Just go through your stash and pick the colors you love. I would recommend to use at least 8 different colors. You could use colors in one color range, such as all blues, greens etc. But light and dark grey, black, white and a touch of yellow or pink would also be lovely! Make sure you have enough contrast between the colors you are using per pattern.
Enjoy picking your colors and enjoy the knitting!
You also can use acrylic, cotton or mix yarn!
Techniques: knit in the round, stranded colorwork (the techniques are not explained in this pattern but you can find many instruction video’s on the internet!).
Happy Knitting!
