Fair Skies
The skies here in southern California are usually cloud free this time of year. But with the warming climate and more moisture in the air, we often have big fluffy clouds all over our crystal blue sky.
This shawl is big and beautiful. It’s got a fairly easy, geometric, 34 stitch lace repeat. Its bold lace stands on its own, so no beads on this one. There is a lovely smaller top lace border echoing the bottom lace. There are short rows to achieve the crescent shaping. Full directions are included and also included are directions for picking up the wraps (don’t worry - not hard!)
There are two easy to read, large charts for the lace top and bottom. Also included are written directions for the charted rows for those who don’t like working from charts.
The yarn is Stroll from Knit Picks. I found out about halfway through knitting the shawl that this yarn is discontinued. I’m sorry to see it go. I love the transitions of the color and the light feel. But, this luscious shawl would also be lovely in a solid and really any yarn colors. Imagine this in white for a wedding! So, don’t let the discontinued yarn stop you. If you’d like a similar feel, try Knit Picks “Chroma” in color Narwhal. If you’d like to pick your own yarn, match the weight (fingering, #4) and yardage and go with similar fiber content.
This big, drapey, comfortable shawl would also make a fabulous gift for yourself or anyone!
