Fairies in the Snow
This pattern is also available at a discounted price as part of an e-book with the Fairy Correspondence shawl pattern. Look to the upper right of this page for the e-book option.
Fairies in the Snow is a crescent-shaped shawl that calls for 2 skeins of fingering/sock yarn and has a variety of fun stitch patterns that are easy to learn. Originally a mystery knitalong, the full pattern is now available. It still has the story that accompanied the sections of the knitalong’s serialized release.
What other knitters say about Fairies in the Snow:
“Loved the entire pattern and the detailed instructions” - Sakharwood
“I think my favorite part of the shawl is the opportunity to personalize it by picking a section to repeat.” - LCGrad9
Stitch patterns/ techniques
The shawl includes both textured and lace sections. The lace patterns are what I would call “beginner lace” - short repeats, with the work of the lace all done on the right side.
Difficulty
Advanced beginner/ intermediate. Detailed instructions are given throughout and pictures of each stitch pattern are included. Frequent stitch counts allow you to make sure you are on track.
Yarn
You will need two skeins of fingering/ sock yarn. The sample was made with Jilly and Kiddles Fancy Sock in “Bonjour” and “Tour de France.” There are kits available in this color combination and two others.
Gauge
22 sts and 28 rows to 4” in stockinette stitch. Gauge is not terribly important, but if your gauge is off, your yarn usage and the size of the finished shawl will differ.
Needles
US 7/ 4.5 mm needles, or size to obtain gauge. This shawl is worked flat. It is possible to work this shawl entirely on straight needles, but using a long circular needle will allow you to spread your work out and see the stitch patterns more clearly as the shawl grows.
