Fairy armadillo
Since I have a real liking for nature’s most peculiar, weird, mysterious or misunderstood underdogs I decided to design some of them for anyone who wants to get to know these natural weirdo’s a little better!
The pink fairy armadillo is one of those unlikely animals, that you are not sure are actually real. It seems like something out of an April Fools’ joke and looks a bit like a piece of nigiri sushi.*
This armadillo has a lot of textures, it is an intermediate to advanced knit, although the pattern may look more complicated than it actually is.
For the fairy armadillo in the photos 2.5 mm double pointed needles (UK 12) and approx. 50 m of yarn were used. It measures 10 cm from bum to nose.
The mottling and weight of Scheepjes Soft Fun Aquarel cotton (807) in light pink give the shield texture. The body was knit with Lana Grossa Ragazza Voi (07) white and Mohairlana (04) white, knit as a single strand to create a wooly appearance.
Have a knit day, Viv
