Knitting pattern #fairy_forest_cardigan is a simple yet very elegant button-fastened model for children described stitch-by-stitch.
You will find 7 sizes carefully calculated and tested: 0-6 months / 6-12 months/ 12-18 months / 2-3 years / 4-5 years / 6-7 years / 8-9 years. Choose size according to desired chest circumeference.
The cardigan is worked from the top down on circular needles. Stitches of sleeves are picked to go in the round. German short rows are used to make best comfort.
Stitch level is moderate and thanks to videos (no sound) incorporated into the pattern I can recommend the pattern even for attentive and patient beginners.
You will need:
Yarn: Drops Air (150 m / 50 g 164 yds / 1.75 oz) held one strand
(total needed – 3, 3, 4, 4, 5, 6, 6) skeins
May be substituted with: Sandnes Garn Kos, Infinity Air, Drey Michell, Lana Gatto Super soft (in this case total amount of balls needed is 4, 4, 5, 5, 6, 6, 7)
Knitting needles: Circular needle 3.5 mm US 4 – with 60 cm 24 in cord; 3 mm US2 1/2 with 60 cm 24 in cord for neck and sleeves to use with Magic Loop method or DPNS if you can’t use Magic Loop.
Notions: tapestry needle, 3 stitch holders (or waste yarn), 5–7 buttons, scissors, stitch markers, scissors.
Gauge in a swatch of 10 x 10 cm 4 x 4 in in stockinette stitch on the larger needles is – 24 sts x 33 rows
Tools and materials for embroidery:
• rip-away iron-on interfacing with one fusible side, or removable embroidery backing - depending on the chosen pattern,
• embroidery thread
• embroidery needle,
• scissors
