Fairy Lights Advent Shawl
This pattern has been designed using 24x 5g mini skeins plus 100g of yarn in a contrasting colour, making it perfect for use with a yarn advent calendar or just to use up scraps. I’ve named this pattern “Fairy Lights Advent Shawl” as the white contrast yarn looks like little strings of fairy lights against the rainbow colours.
The pattern uses linen stitch, the repetitive sc & ch stitches make it a nice relaxing pattern to work on while watching Christmas films
To make the most of each colour I simply joined every new colour as the last one ran out, rather than changing colours at the end of a row. I used a thumb knot to join mid row but you can use whichever method you prefer! Please bare in mind that if you decide to change colours at the end of rows rather than mid row like I have, you may need more yarn that stated to complete the pattern.
I refer to the mini skein colours as “main colour” throughout the pattern and the lighter yarn I have used as the “contrast yarn”.
After the first 9 rows you will work 4 rows of main colour, then one row of contrast yarn. This is then repeated for the majority of the pattern.
This pattern also includes step by step photo instructions explaining how to make and attach tassels to the shawl corners.
